Dwight Carter

Dwight Carter is an exceptional educator who has inspired many in the field of education. Hailing from Central Ohio, Dwight is recognized as one of the top leaders in school administration. His journey has been nothing short of remarkable, and his achievements speak volumes about his incredible contributions.

In 2010, Dwight's innovative and collaborative leadership was nationally recognized when he was inducted into the prestigious Jostens Renaissance Educator Hall of Fame. This was just the beginning of a series of achievements that would cement his position as a true trailblazer.

In 2013, Dwight was named the National Association of Secondary School Principals Digital Principal of the Year, a testament to his forward-thinking approach in the digital age. The following year, he was crowned the Academy of Arts and Sciences Education High School Principal of the Year, showcasing his commitment to arts and science in education. Dwight's dedication to diversity and inclusion was evident when he was honored as the Ohio Alliance of Black School Educators Principal of the Year in 2015. His tireless efforts to create an inclusive educational environment for all students didn't go unnoticed. More recently, in 2021, he was acknowledged as the Columbus Afrocentric Early College Sankofa Emerging Leader, marking his continuous growth as a leader.

Dwight Carter is the Director of Educational Resources for the Eastland-Fairfield Career and Technical School District, overseeing climate and culture, health and wellness, and intervention services.

Dwight is not just a leader but also a published author. He co-authored What’s In Your Space? Five Steps to Better School and Classroom Design and Leading Schools in Disruptive Times: How to Survive Hyper-Change, both published by Corwin. His latest book, Be GREAT: Five Principles to Improve School Culture from the Inside Out, published by IMPress in the spring of 2022, is a testament to his commitment to positive change. In addition to his books, Dwight Carter has contributed to numerous educational publications and articles, further cementing his reputation as a thought leader. He speaks and facilitates workshops about creating a positive school culture and climate, leadership development and strategy, personal skill development to support equitable practices, and mental health and wellness.
